Our little princess is already 2 months old!  It feels like we were just bringing her home from the hospital yesterday, and now she’s almost bigger than her stuffed bunny!  She’s changed so much in the last month, and I can’t hardly believe it when I compare her 1 month picture to her 2 month picture.

2 MONTH UPDATE

GROWTH

We had our 2 month check up and shots 🙁 today, and we weighed 9 lbs 2 oz (5th percentile) and 21 3/4 inches tall (25th percentile).  I was concerned she is so small, and at the bottom end of the scale, but our pediatrician said she’s perfectly healthy, just petite.  He said if I’m concerned that she isn’t growing enough in the next few weeks, we can stop in for a weight check before her 4 month check up.

EAT

We’re still going strong with breastfeeding, however we hit a little speed bump this month.  We made a visit to the pediatrician after Addison had a bloody stool, and after a blood test and stool culture he decided it was a dairy protein allergy.  I eliminated dairy for 3 days, and she seriously improved!  After realizing just how much of my diet consists of dairy, I decided to pursue alternate route and we visited a NAET (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques) practitioner last week.  Since then, I’ve slowly been adding dairy back in to my diet and it doesn’t seem to be making her super fussy.  We go back tomorrow for a follow up to see where we are at and if she needs anymore treatments.  We’re also still on Zantac for acid reflex, but the spitting up has improved in the last month as well.

CLOTHES

We’re still in our newborn clothes, but she did wear her Christmas dress on Sunday and that was a 3 month outfit.  It was definitely too big, but her newborn clothes are starting to get a little snug.  I’m sure we will be making the transition sometime this next month into our 0-3 month clothes.

PLAY & DEVELOPMENT

Addi is more alert each and every day.  She’s starting to be more responsive, and smiling on her own, rather than just as a reflex.  She also coo’s more, and is overall a happier baby with less fussy time in the evenings.  I also got her play mat out this past month, and she loves listening to the music and watching the bright lights.

“FIRSTS”

  • First Thanksgiving
  • First shots
  • First shopping trip
  • First time being away from mom (6 hours of Christmas shopping, and Addison stayed with Aunt Bridget).
  • First visit to see Santa (twice!)
  • First appearance in our hometown newspaper (sitting on Santa’s lap with cousin Norah)
  • Mom and Dad’s first “date” since before Addison arrived!  We grabbed supper and rushed back, I don’t think we were gone for more than an hour!
