Nursery Inspiration

When I found out we were expecting, I was super excited to start on a nursery.  In fact, I decided was going to be so on the ball that I was going to have the whole thing put together by the time I hit 12 weeks, and I would take all my bump update pictures in the babies room.  Well, here I sit at week 25 and we still do not even have the walls painted!  But, we have taken a few steps in the right direction and I’m hoping to really tackle it in the next few weeks.  Here’s my nursery inspiration!

THE BEFORE

MY PLANS

This is the room we’ve decided to use as our nursery.  It’s a decent size bedroom (13 X 12), and has a nice closet.  I knew right off the bat that I would want to paint the walls, but my dilemma is the carpet.  It’s in very good shape, and I could have maybe come up with a theme to work for a little boy with those colors, but it just wasn’t ideal for a little girl.  So I’ve been on the hunt for an affordable carpet remnant the last few months.

I was going to go with a gender neutral nursery, but as soon as we found out we were having a little girl my heart has been set on pink!  I am not sure on wall color yet. However I do know that I want to do an accent wall of either shiplap or reclaimed wood.  One option that I’m considering is going with a neutral gray and white for the walls, and then adding some pink accents (for example, the dresser) that will really pop!  That way we would just swap out some furniture if we have a little boy in the future!

NURSERY INSPIRATION BOARD

I put together this nursery inspiration board, and want to go with a rustic glam theme.  I’ve started collecting a few things as well!  First of all, I found a carpet remnant this past week on closeout for $129!  I’m 99% sure the pad is fine under the current carpet, but we might have to replace that as well.

Second, I had a friend selling a nursery set (crib, changing table with storage, and dresser) for $200, and my aunt has agreed to help me chalk paint those pieces!  I’m leaning towards a light gray for the crib & changing table, and an elegant pink for the dresser.  I’ve also picked up a few little decor items, and I have the perfect accent chair already too!  This weekend I’m hoping to pick up my shiplap, and next week get started on painting the walls.

The countdown is on for baby girl’s arrival, and I’ll feel much better once this project is tackled!  I might even be feeling a hint of nesting with all this creative decorating talk 🙂
